If you’re reading this, then chances are you’ve designed or developed a web site before and you’re familiar with the design and review process in all its pain and glory. Ideally, you want to give your client a clear idea of the proposed look and behavior of the site, get feedback, and iterate until you’ve got it right. We know it can be a pain, so we decided to build clickdummy to make it a no brainer.
Our goal with clickdummy is to make it embarrassingly simple to create high fidelity, interactive prototypes and quickly get them in front of your clients for a crash test. We’re building it for shamelessly lazy bastards like us, who think it’s a crime to do any more work than you have to.
Clickdummy lets you re-use comps you’ve already created offline and add as much or as little interactivity as you want to create the perfect prototype faster than you can say “what’s in my Hulu queue?” Once you’re done, you can share your prototype with your client and get feedback through the built in comment system.
When it comes time to make changes, clickdummy stores all versions of your work in Git version control, just in case you need to roll back to a previous version or try out something new, because the only thing worse than doing unnecessary work is repeating work you’ve already done.
Clickdummy is still a work in progress, but if you’re interested, signup for our closed beta and you’ll be the first to get your hands on it when we open it up for testers. We also encourage you to follow us on twitter (@clickdummy) to keep up with what we’re up to – we’d love to hear what you think.
We also had another motive for creating clickdummy. As self-described Javascript junkies, we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to build a real life app using server side Javascript on top of NodeJS and the ExpressJS frameworks. So if you’re also a javascript junkie, and want to get involved, let us know.
